Liang Wern Fook undoubtedly realised, early on, that a true musician taps into cultural zeitgeist—something much bigger than you— when he championed the xinyao movement that brought Singaporean Chinese folk songs to a wider audience. Since his 1986 release Door, the first Singaporean Mandarin album to be written and performed by the same artist, Liang has had a hand in over 200 songs and compositions—some of which became hits for artists like Jackie Cheung, Andy Lau and Stefanie Sun.
