Kwesi Arthur Essentials

As a child growing up in the remote coastal town of Tema, Kwesi Arthur had plans to be a footballer. However, after he started listening to Drake as a teenager his life took a sudden turn towards music. He exploded onto Ghana's rap scene in 2015 with the bass-heavy trap anthem "Grind Day" (which, three years later, won Hip-Hop Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards for its remix), and then honed his trap aesthetic with the 808s-fueled "No Title". But he's not stopping there—he continues to expand his style with the old-school "Ade Akye", adding Chicago house piano and a kick drum beat.
