Shreya Ghoshal

Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal has recorded songs in more than a dozen languages, picking up more than a hundred awards for her work along the way. ∙ After winning the musical competition show Sa Re Ga Ma in 1996, she came full circle over a decade later, serving as a judge on STAR Voice of India and Indian Idol Junior. ∙ At age 16, she won Filmfare’s prestigious R.D. Burman Award for New Music Talent for her playback singing debut in the 2002 drama Devdas. ∙ The International Indian Film Academy Award honored her performance of the A. R. Rahman-penned “Barso Re,” included on the chart-topping 2007 Guru soundtrack. ∙ Pakistani artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan joined her on “Teri Meri,” from the box-office smash Bodyguard, which The Times of India named one of the Top 10 Hindi Songs of 2011. ∙ “Samjhawan,” a duet with acclaimed playback singer Arijit Singh that appeared in the 2014 rom-com Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, shot to No. 1 on iTunes in India.
