“It starts with getting to work with really talented people,” Switch Disco’s Dan Creasy tells Apple Music about “VACANCY”, the storming new single that headlines danceXL this week. “When we came out of the sessions [with songwriters Maegan Cottone and RuthAnne], we knew that we’d got another one. We’re also lucky that RuthAnne allowed us to keep her vocals on the track, because she nailed it. Though the music-writing side of things is still relatively new to us both, we know what sounds good. As clichéd as it might sound, it is just a feeling.” Following the success of 2023 single “REACT” with Ella Henderson (sampling Robert Miles’ techno classic “Children”), Switch Disco slow-cooked “VACANCY”, a stirring trip of vocal-synth companionship, across global residences in Ibiza, Zante, Miami and Hobart, Australia. Creasy and DJ partner and housemate Nikos Kalogeria were spurred on by “amazing” reactions to the track. “We’ve been in the industry for a long time and it’s all come together this year,” he says. “For two decades, our job has been to recognise songs that will work for dance floors and resonate with people. And now, next year is looking even bigger, which we’re very thankful for.” Listen to “VACANCY” now and add this playlist to your library to stay up on the tracks roaring through clubs and festivals around the world.
