Tokyo trio cero has been producing contemplative, quirky tracks since their breakthrough 2015 hit "Summer Soul", which features velvet-smooth electric piano notes and a promise to rewrite the map of music. They didn't make light of this vow—since releasing their debut album World Record, the band have been innovating in the Japanese music scene with intricate, art pop oddities and vast orchestral variety. Hip-hop beats and brass in "Machi No Shirase" are offset by the lounge chill and surrealist humour of "exotic penguin night", revealing a seemingly boundless capacity for creativity.
