About Titus Maz
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of the earliest memories was a school trip at around 6 or 7 y.o. where I was totally enraptured and in bliss by the music the School Bus sound system was blasting ! Soon after that I got gifted a cheap acoustic guitar and took my first steps. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Herbie Hancock, The Essential Herbie Hancock Lester Young, Oscar Peterson Trio, The President Plays With The Oscar Peterson Trio Wes Montgomery, The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery Keepnews Collection These three albums give me an insight on the state of the art Bebop and Contemporary Jazz harmony and melody arrangement. Learning from the masters to be concise and effective in your melody construction with Love and Authenticity. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Rewind” The song main hook was conceived during the difficult times of lockdown. It took a progressive rock / Contemporary Jazz spin but the harmony could be translated into different styles. The dissonance and resolution reflects those moments ! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Supporting the Zambian artist Wezi at Lake of Stars Festival blessed me with memorable influences from all of the best music from African artists. I immersed myself in different angles and styles from Hip-Hop to R&B to Jazz and traditional. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'm working on a new album right now that gravitates around Jazz and Contemporary Jazz. This album features some phenomenal guests and I'd like to bring this new work with me around the world and turn it into a Jam session as I've already done !
