About The Johnny Mann Singers
b. 30 August 1928, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Mann’s US male/female vocal group, popular in the 60s, specialized in lively, swinging arrangements, in complete contrast to the prevailing beat music scene. The group released several popular albums, including Roar Along With The Singing ‘Twenties and Swing Along With The Swingin’ ‘Thirties, and also had a US Top 10 chart single in 1967 with Jimmy Webb’s ‘Up, Up And Away’. Nearly 20 years later, their album The Johnny Mann Singers (1984), featured their interpretations of 60s classics, such as ‘Portrait Of My Love’, ‘A Taste Of Honey’, ‘Dedicated To The One I Love’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘A World Without Love’.
