About Anita Kerr
Anita Kerr was the vocal embodiment of the "Nashville Sound" that dominated country music throughout the mid-'50s and '60s. Along with the Jordanaires, her group the Anita Kerr Singers was the seminal backing vocal unit of the era, and it is estimated that at their early-'60s peak, they graced fully one quarter of all of the records coming out of Nashville's studios. During the latter half of that decade, Kerr operated out of Los Angeles, branching out into pop, jazz, and easy listening and working as a composer and producer. She eventually settled in Switzerland, where she operated a successful studio and continued working through the 1980s. Kerr remained in Switzerland until her death in 2022.
