The Blaenavon Male Voice Choir

About The Blaenavon Male Voice Choir

The official founding of the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir took place in 1910, although organized male harmony singing in the Welsh town of Blaenavon may go back as far as 1873. Numbering about 60, ranging in age from teenagers to people in their eighties, and drawn from towns around Blaenavon, the choir is primarily occupied in performing concerts for charity purposes, but it has toured in Europe and North America, and accompanied many bands and opera singers. The choir also has made several recordings. 80 Years in Harmony was released by Bandleader in 1990 and Voices from the Valleys by Soundline on March 5, 2001. On March 24, 2003, Heritage appeared, followed by What Would I Do Without My Music? in 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann
