Ramon Lazkano

Composer Ramón Lazkano, from Spain's Basque Country, mixes pan-European high modernist techniques with imagery relating to his Basque homeland. His music has been performed in many countries, including the U.S. and Russia. Lazkano is an important educator who serves on the faculty of the Musikene Higher School of Music in the Basque Country. In 2025, his piano concerto Mare Marginis was included on Concertos, a set of contemporary piano-and-orchestra works by pianist Alexandre Tharaud.
