About Ola Gjeilo

Norway-born, New York-based musician Ola Gjeilo is a Julliard-educated composer known for his contemporary piano and choral works.

∙ His debut album of choral compositions, 2012’s Gjeilo: Northern Lights, was iTunes’ Best Classical Vocal Album of 2012.
∙ Two of his releases—a 2016 self-titled LP and 2017’s Ola Gjeilo: Winter Songs—peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Traditional Classical Albums chart.
∙ In 2016, he wrote “The River”—a piece for choir, piano, and string quartet—for the American Choral Directors Association’s prestigious Brock Commission.
∙ Gjeilo has been composer-in-residence for the music production company Distinguished Concerts International New York, the choral group Albany Pro Musica, and the UK a cappella group VOCES8.
