In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember sitting in the front room of my nan’s aged around 5 playing her old upright piano, getting lost in the sounds, textures and possibilities of the instrument. Coming up with simple melodies, and hearing how one note would react with another. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Dr. Dre, 2001 MGMT, Oracular Spectacular Radiohead, OK Computer Radiohead, OK Computer. My favourite album ever. MGMT, Oracular Spectacular. The vibe is unique. It’s tender one minute, ironic the next. Dr. Dre, 2001. To me this is the start and finish point of groove, attitude and sound in rap and hip hop. Tell us why you chose this song. “Looking For A Way Out (Of Del Rio)” To avoid bias towards any particular artist, (as they’re all brilliant), I’m going to choose a song of my own, ‘Looking For A Way Out (Of Del Rio) - the first song I wrote on my new album, ‘Django’s High’, which I wrote when we were in lockdown. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I’m going to choose the Brits performance with Dave, when we performed ‘Black’. This was one of the best days of my life. I felt so grateful to be sharing the stage with Dave that evening. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Future Utopia is about connecting with our fans, and making music that allows people escape their troubles and day to day monotony. I want each live show to be a trip, a journey - a legal high.
