ALT CTRL

ALT CTRL is home to the latest and greatest in alternative music. Here, it’s as much an attitude as a sound—music that keeps things a little left of centre and rough around the edges. This week, Florence + the Machine return with “Everybody Scream”, the title track from their upcoming album—out this Halloween—that explores lead singer Florence Welch’s struggles with fame. “But look at me run myself ragged/Blood on the stage/But how can I leave you when you’re screaming my name?” she sings. Welch explains that her fears drove the song’s creation. “It’s a strange thing: It’s interesting because it’s also what the song is about, which is about being an artist, and also being someone who’s kind of stressed sometimes about being visible or being out in the world, and who finds it kind of overwhelming to put out work,” she tells Apple Music.
