Being one of Hong Kong’s most celebrated young songwriters wasn’t enough for Terence Lam Ka Him. After five years of penning tunes—sometimes one a week—for the likes of Eason Chan, Joey Yung and Pakho Chau, the composer and producer with an array of music awards to his credit began singing himself. Lam’s reserved, airy vocals and bouncy melodies have made for soul-stirring numbers such as 2022’s foot-tapper “doodoodoo” and the summery “夏之風物詩”, which combines light jazz-guitar riffs with an upbeat chorus.
