Taiwanese singer Julia Peng made her debut on the Mandopop scene in the mid '90s. Her great vocal range—from rounded alto to powerful soprano—made her the perfect interpreter of the romantic ballad. Her 1997 duet with Andy Lau took her on the path to stardom in the Chinese pop world, and she followed that first success with the wistful “The Day I Walk Down the Red Carpet”. After a hiatus in the '00s, Peng is back with a set of emotional, semi-autobiographical songs, reflecting on her musical and life experiences, such as the difficult birth of her daughters and impending middle age.
