Help

Help

John Dwyer’s San Francisco garage band had changed names several times before settling into a comfortable groove as Thee Oh Sees. Their second album under that guise, 2009’s Help, lays the foundation for what would follow: John Dwyer’s unpolished yelps and rattling guitar melodies plus a brooding, bruising rhythm section. “Ruby Go Home” strikes an unlikely balance between grotty psych foreboding and candy-coloured pop catchiness, while “Go Meet the Seed” doubles down on their Nuggets-style retro vibes.
