Summer Lei's evocative lyrics are like poetry. The Taiwanese singer/songwriter sometimes even speaks the words to her songs during live performances. (The art form may be in her blood—her father is a renowned writer.) Her gentle alto voice is most often accompanied by dreamy acoustic instrumentation (piano, strings, guitar, accordion) inspired by the work of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as by her own classical training.
