Liars: Next Steps

Of all the bands to rise out of New York's post-punk revival in the early '00s, Liars have been the most unpredictable. While the trio embraced the scuzzy funk and sass of groups like Gang of Four and The Birthday Party, they also adopted the anything-goes approach of classic krautrock greats like Can and Faust—blending tribal rhythms and avant-garde noise with cheeky aplomb.
