Post-punk pioneers Joy Division formed in the wake of the Sex Pistols' legendary 1976 show in Manchester, but their influences extended far beyond Johnny Rotten and Co. From the Krautrock sound of Can to the glammy gloss of T. Rex to the avant-garde rock of The Velvet Underground, these are the artists who inspired the band's beautifully bleak esthetic.
