Since the late '70s dissolution of his harmony-rich folk-rock outfit Beau Dommage, Michel Rivard has used that group's rootsy base as a springboard into more modernist pop. That spirit of adventure lives on in a new generation of Quebec indie pop explorers that includes the likes of Marie-Pierre Arthur and former Karkwa frontman Louis-Jean Cormier.
