In Québec, Fred Pellerin made his name as a "conteur," which literally means storyteller. Although he can captivate an audience with nothing more than words, spinning the lives of the fellow citizens of his tiny village of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton into fantastical adventures, he started integrating songs as little interludes in his shows. With the help of his brother Nicolas, he dug deep into Québec's vast repertoire of folk songs, and started writing more and more originals on subsequent albums, winning the Félix Award for Folk Album of the Year with 2011's C'est un monde.
