Fronted by former Nine Inch Nails guitarist Richard Patrick, Filter inherited Trent Reznor’s empire of dirt with their ominous, industrialized 1995 single “Hey Man, Nice Shot.” Follow-up hits like “Take a Picture,” however, revealed a more melodic, multifaceted alt-rock aesthetic.
