Coming on the heels of 2019’s expansive and experimental A Blemish in the Great Light, the six-song Seasons of Change doesn’t so much herald another dramatic transformation for Half Moon Run as return the group to their natural habitat: the intersection between indie folk and art rock. “Look Me in the Eyes (Skitstövel)” is a stellar showcase of the group’s harmonies, which elevate the song from piano-guided lullaby to chandelier-crashing anthem. “All at Once” takes a more tranquil route to ecstasy via its dreamy pedal-steel sweeps, while the title track is a lonesome drifter’s lament centred around a stark, stirring vocal turn from frontman Devon Portielje.
