The Ottawa alt-pop singer explores relationships from all angles. We’ve come to expect nothing less than pure candour and high drama from five-time Juno Award nominee Jamie Fine. And with this six-track EP, the Ottawa singer-songwriter explores the turbulent life cycle of relationships with forensic detail, from the lust-at-first-sight hookup documented on the bombastic Imagine Dragons-esque stomper “good things come in two’s” to the romantic longing bottled up in the banjo-inflected dance-pop banger “homesick” to the I-will-survive post-breakup R&B anthem “cups of coffee.” But the EP’s roller coaster of emotions culminates on the closing “everything led me to you,” a power ballad that looks at the bright side of a doomed partnership—i.e., the opportunity to fall in love with someone new.
