Blending pop melodies, fast-paced drums, and gut-punching basslines, Vancouver post-punk provocateur EKKSTACY captures the manic energy of his propulsive concerts over the course of the project’s 13 tracks. With features from The Kid LAROI and Trippie Redd, EKKSTACY keeps things centred mostly on his unique vision, inviting these collaborators to lend their styles to his sound. “goo lagoon,” a playful pop-punk anthem that sounds reminiscent of bands like FIDLAR and The Orwells, features upbeat percussion and vocals drenched in hazy reverb. The Trippie Redd-assisted “problems” showcases a softer side, as warm acoustic guitar chords envelop his most delicate vocal delivery on the album. Normally brash and snarling, here he’s contemplative and heartbroken, singing, “I'd rather not let go/It's better to not know/Now I'm on my own/I gave you all my soul/Will never let you go/And be all alonе.”
