About Los Panchos
Formed in 1944, Latin American pop icons Los Panchos (who are sometimes known as Trio Los Panchos) were instrumental in popularizing the bolero and romantic ballad genres. ∙ Puerto Rican bolero greats Julito Rodriguez and Johnny Albino were once part of the trio’s lineup. ∙ They crossed over to the US Pop charts with 1964’s Amor and 1965’s More Amor, both of which featured American vocalist Eydie Gorme singing in Spanish. ∙ Los Panchos collaborated with vocal group The Jordanaires on 1967’s Spanish-language country covers album Hey, Amigo!. ∙ 24 Grandes Canciones—a 1994 compilation with Eydie Gorme of collaborations such as the folk song “Sabor a Mí”—reached No. 31 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
