About Drake Tungsten

Britt Daniel somehow managed to find time to focus on a solo project even though most of his time was spent fronting Spoon and playing bass for Golden Millennium. Going under the pseudonym Drake Tungsten, he self-released a demo entitled Clocking Out is for Suckers in 1994 and a compilation track for the album Bicycle Rodeo the following year. Bringing on a sound of lo-fi folk and indie, Peek-A-Boo Industries released the seven-inch EP Six Pence for the Sauces in 1996. Two years later, a DJ who called himself Dozy borrowed a handful of Tungsten's songs and remixed them to the point that they sounded nothing like the original. The album, Dozy vs. Drake: Upon Further Consideration, resulted from these sessions and were released by Revival Records in 1998. ~ Mike DaRonco
