Skyhooks Essentials

Skyhooks were the most popular Australian band of the mid-'70s, despite being virtually unheard of anywhere else in the world. With razor-sharp rock songs packed with local references and irreverent social commentary, their first two albums, 1974's Living in the '70s and 1975's Ego Is Not a Dirty Word, were massive hits and arguably the most iconic Oz rock records of the era. Lineup changes and the onset of punk saw the band's popularity and influence quickly peter out. They eventually split in 1980, but the original lineup staged a series of sold-out reunion tours throughout the '80s and '90s.
