Motown: Funk
Apple Music

In the late '60s, the signature stomping beats of Motown Records started to give way to syncopated rhythms like the driving hi-hats of The Temptations' “Cloud Nine” and The Funk Brothers' bass-driven groove of Shorty Long's “Here Comes the Judge”. Soon, '70s artists like soul shouter Edwin Starr and blaxploitation soundtrack maestro Willie Hutch brought about a funkier new Motown sound.
