A love of house, disco, and synth-pop brought together New York producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani, who took the dance music world by storm in the early '00s with the retro-inspired sides they released as Metro Area. Taking cues from Italo, hi-NRG, and deep house, they pioneered an infectious, melodic style that captivated indie fans and clubbers alike, linking up with like-minded labels like DFA in the process. Metro Area have been only intermittently active since the late '00s, but Geist's '90s-referencing Storm Queen project scored a UK No. 1 in 2013.
