Her first album led her record label Sony Music to describe Marcela Taís as being part of ‘the new harvest’ of Christian music. She takes a modern approach to gospel, demonstrated in lyrics that—while still devotional—are often a lot more subtle than those found in traditional Christian pop. Take “Voar” or “Ame Mais, Julgue Menos” for example: drawling fiddles lend a folky vibe to lyrics flirting with angel imagery and living a non-judgemental life. Taís can still belt out a ballad, however, as the tinkling piano and fervent verses in “Espera por Mim” demonstrate.
