Josh Pyke first came to prominence when his song "Middle of the Hill" was featured on Triple J in 2005. A jaunty acoustic pop song, it epitomized the songwriter's gentle melancholia, and helped send his 2007 debut, Memories & Dust, to No. 4 on the charts. That album and its followup, 2009's Chimney's Afire, won ARIA Awards for Best Adult Contemporary Album. With his heartfelt songs reminiscent of The Shins and Elliott Smith, Pyke has gone on to become an in-demand live performer.
