About Hak Baker

The architect of "G-folk" (guv'nor folk), built on grounded storytelling and arresting melodies, East London singer/songwriter Hak Baker delivers poignant narratives of his subjects' lives. Though grime was his first musical love, he taught himself to play guitar during his late teens and landed a spot on the Levi's Music Project. His 2017 debut EP, Misfits, established him on the U.K. music circuit, and the six-track set created a modern mythology around the East End, painting candid stories of the city with emotive, earthy guitars. Baker's second release, the cohesive long-player Babylon, arrived in 2019, with songs that reminisced over wild youth while railing against his city's authoritarianism. A second EP arrived in 2021's Misled before he issued his radio-styled second LP, Worlds End FM, in 2023. In 2024, he appeared as lead vocalist on pianist/composer Joe Armon-Jones' Wrong Side of Town EP.
