Part of the same resurgent Los Angeles underground scene as No Age, Mika Miko, and Health, Chino’s Abe Vigoda have rapidly made a name for themselves among their contemporaries. Downtown D.I.Y. performance space The Smell acts as the scene’s headquarters, and No Age member Dean Spunt’s label PPM acts as a home for Vigoda and others. In this supportive atmosphere, Abe Vigoda managed to mature in a short time from a noisy art-punk act on their Sky Route/Star Roof to the evocative Caribbean/Afrobeat-influenced swirl of their third album, Skeleton, which has earned them considerable acclaim. ~ Tom Forget
