On Andretti 10/30, Curren$y’s chilled-out style sounds more intoxicating than ever. Moving away from the lush, ferry-cruise grooves of some of his previous work, the rapper’s relaxed flow is instead backed by more low-key synths and plenty of creeping funk. Curren$y sounds heavy-eyed on the gloriously languid “Lifers” and spacey, Cardo-produced “Stay Ridin’”. Elsewhere, the twinking piano keys and fat basslines of “Told Me That” find him sharing life lessons on money, drugs and notoriety.
