PUBLIQuartet

About PUBLIQuartet

The PUBLIQuartet is dedicated to the performance of contemporary chamber music. The group is noted for its efforts to draw new audiences to contemporary music through improvisational aspects in its music, which includes influences from jazz and world musical traditions. The PUBLIQuartet was formed in 2010 and is based in New York City. The members are violinists Curtis Stewart and Jannina Norpoth, violist Nick Revel, and cellist Hamilton Berry. The group made its debut on recordings in 2015 along with the Soldier Quartet on the album In Four Color: Music for String Quartet by David Soldier. Later that year, the PUBLIQuartet released its solo debut with a self-titled album on the CAG label. The PUBLIQuartet became known for innovative programming that mixed established 20th century repertory, including a MIND|THE|GAP rubric that features group-composed works. This was featured on the PUBLIQuartet's 2022 album What Is American.
