About Jordan Patterson

b. USA. Based in Washington, DC, Patterson plays harmonica and sings the blues. He built a reputation for his contemporary take on the blues tradition, leading his band, D.C. Hurricane, on tours throughout the USA. Among Patterson’s sidemen have been James ‘Hot Dog’ Lewis (piano/organ), Shawn Kellerman (guitar), Chris Latta (guitar), Anthony Gonsalves (bass), and El Torro Gamble (drums). In 1997 Patterson’s band played engagements in Canada, including gigs in Montreal and on the west coast, attracting considerable attention and high praise from audiences and critics alike. Also in the late 90s, Patterson appeared with Kenny Neal at the Tampa Bay Festival in Florida, and visited the UK. Sometimes raw, the energetic approach to the blues adopted by Patterson has extended his audience into those who are accustomed to the related fields of R&B and funk. Sitting in on Patterson’s 1995 debut Give Me A Chance were alto saxophonist Josh Brown Jnr., guitarist Bobby Parker and singer and blues harpist Bobby Rush. Two years later, Patterson and his band played on guitarist U.P. Wilson’s Whirlwind.
