About Spain
Spain formed in the early '90s when bass player/vocalist Josh Haden (son of jazz musician Charlie Haden and brother of That Dog’s Petra Haden) teamed up with guitarist Ken Boudakian. Rounding out the lineup were Merlo Podlewski (second guitar) and Evan Hartzell (drums). After two singles, the quartet signed to Restless in 1995 and issued its debut, The Blue Moods of Spain, an album of slow, spacy, melancholy alt rock. After a four-year layoff, Spain was rekindled (without Hartzell) for its 1999 second release, She Haunts My Dreams. Haden and Podlewski were joined by Shon Sullivan (guitar/keyboards) and Will Hughes (drums) for 2001's I Believe. After a ten-year hiatus, they returned with Soul of Spain in 2012. ~ Rovi Staff
