About Harry Shearer

Comedy writer/performer Harry Shearer was part of a Firesign Theater-like counterculture-comedy troupe, The Credibility Gap, in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s, and went on to become a writer/performer for Saturday Night Live. In 1984, along with Christopher Guest and fellow Credibility Gap alumnus Michael McKean, Shearer wrote and acted in the now-legendary rock spoof THIS IS SPINAL TAP, and his work with the fictional Spinal Tap band would prove as influential as that of any legitimate hard-rock outfit of the era. Shearer’s also known for providing the voices for several characters on THE SIMPSONS, and hosting the NPR-affiliated radio program Le Show.
