Italian/Norwegian metallers Hideous Divinity deliver death metal that is both crushing and old school, rooted in both technical and blackened death. Initiated in 2006 by Hour of Penance co-founder Enrico Schettino, the band issued their debut album, the socio-political/sci-fi epic Obeisance Rising, on Unique Leader in 2012. Subsequent efforts like Adveniens (2017), Simulacrum (2019), and the EP LV-426 (2021) continued to look to classic science fiction and horror films for inspiration, and push against the boundaries of extreme metal.
