About Young@Heart Chorus

This sprightly senior citizens’ chorus began in 1982 in Northampton, Massachusetts, as a kind of geriatric revue, performing a mix of ancient comedy skits, vaudeville routines, and some surprisingly hip covers of 1960s pop songs. An alliance with the experimental No Theater brought the outfit local recognition that turned international in subsequent decades, following imaginative collaborations with groups that included Cambodian folk artists, punks, and the Pioneer Valley Gay Men’s Chorus. In the early 21st century the ensemble was discovered by a whole new generation via Youtube, and began including songs by the Ramones, Bruce Springsteen, and David Bowie, among others, in its repertoire, to entertaining, and ironic, effect.
