About Steve Dorff

Steve Dorff is one of the most successful songwriters in the United States. A three-time Grammy and a five-time Emmy nominee, Dorff has penned more than 20 Top Ten country and/or pop hits and nine chart-topping film tunes. The music supervisor for George Strait's 1992 film, Pure Country, which included two number one hits -- "Heartland" and "I Cross My Heart," Dorff has been a constant presence on the music charts. His songs have furnished number one hits for Eddie Rabbitt ("Every Which Way But Loose"), Kenny Rogers ("Through the Years"), Mel Tillis ("Coca Cola Cowboy"), Clay Walker ("Hypnotize the Moon"), Anne Murray ("I Just Fall in Love Again"), and Ronnie Milsap ("Cowboys and Clowns"). The lengthy list of additional artists who have covered his tunes include Barbra Steisand, Glen Campbell, Melissa Manchester, Karen Carpenter, Roy Rogers, Whitney Houston, and Vanessa Williams. Dorff has supplied scores for such movies as Tin Cup, Michael, Blast from the Past, and Dudley Do-Right and TV shows including Murphy Brown, Murder She Wrote, Growing Pains, Alien Nation, Major Dad, My Sister Sam, and Spencer for Hire. Dorff's legacy has been passed on to his sons, Stephen, who works as an actor, and Andrew, a musician whose debut album, Hint of Mess, was released in August 1997. ~ Craig Harris
