Helmed by the Liverpudlian post-punk mastermind Pete Wylie, Wah! have released a steady stream of stylistically variegated material since their inception in 1979. Though their earliest releases featured straight-ahead punk in the vein of The Clash and The Vibrators, efforts like 1984’s A WORD TO THE WISE GUY were stylistically schizophrenic affairs that featured everything from the faux-gospel of the minor hit “The Story of the Blues” to the angular New Wave of “Come Back.”
