Moderate Rebels

A group whose inviting pop sound accompanies a bold outlook, Moderate Rebels are a creative collective whose work is engaging while challenging many basic conventions of how a band works. Their lineup can consist of as few as two and as many as ten people, and while there are several core members, they stress that they can change their membership at will at any time. Musically, Moderate Rebels build their songs around serialist dance rhythms fused with elements of synth pop, indie rock, psychedelia, and vintage rock and pop, while the lyrics cast a witty, jaundiced eye at the politics of daily life. Their ideas were firmly in place in straightforward form on their 2017 debut album, The Sound of Security, while they incorporated more sophisticated musical thinking and stronger studio technique on 2021's If You See Something That Doesn't Look Right.
