About Chris Mess

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At about 10 years old, having just learned how to operate my parents' stereo, David Bowie's "1984" comes on the radio. I was struck by the resonant, haunting vibrato. What a profound influence he'd have on me later, as I became a singer. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? David Bowie, Hunky Dory (2015 Remaster) Sweet, Desolation Boulevard The Darkness, Permission to Land Bonus Track Hunky Dory dazzles, from Changes to Queen Bitch. Permission to Land sizzles, struts, and rocks, blending T-Rex and Queen influences. Desolation Boulevard is a glam classic inspiring an array of 80's rockers. All are big influences on my songwriting. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Song for Zed” SONG FOR ZED revisits and reshapes surreal dialog from the 1974 cult classic film “Zardoz” into a belated—and utterly unsolicited—glam-rock theme song, replete with 13-voice “bohemian” harmonies. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I traveled to Kailua-Kona Hawaii to record vocals for the "Glitter" EP. The exotic atmosphere, and probably the humidity, really inspired me to reach for new heights in rock 'n' roll vocal dynamism. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We'd like to do some live dates in Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, where the folks love the rock 'n' roll. If The Darkness see this, hey guys, we'd love to open for you. ;) Give us a ring? Cheers, Chris Mess
