About FUZETA

Don't let their name fool you -- Fuzeta may have taken their name from a Portuguese fishing village, but this impassioned indie rock band actually hail from France. Comprised of three brothers and a lifelong friend, Fuzeta's music encompasses a bold, passionate variety of indie rock, with insistent drums, layered guitars with noticeable folk and Americana influences, and strongly emotive vocals delivered in English. The group's style was firmly in place when they released their first two singles, "Y" and "Dive," in 2015. Their reputation grew with the Pavilhão Chinês EP in 2016, which was a success in Europe, and as they added a greater polish and professionalism to their performances, they started making inroads into the North American market in 2019 with the single "Wandering Life." Fuzeta features Dorian Sims and Pierre-Antoine Sims on guitar and vocals, Charles-Alexandre Sims on bass, and Jeremy Hervé on drums. The group hails from Brittany, on the Southern coast of France, where the Sims Brothers and Hervé had known one another since childhood. Influenced by North American indie acts such as the Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, the Cold War Kids, and Volcano Choir, Fuzeta began playing out regionally, and only a month after their first show, they made their way on the bill at the 36th Transmusicales Festival in nearby Rennes, where they received an enthusiastic reception. In 2015, Fuzeta won the grand prize in the Ricard SA Live Music Prize competition, which earned them equipment, a spot on a nationwide concert tour, and studio time to record an EP, along with distribution of the final product. Later that year, Fuzeta brought out a pair of singles, "Y" and "Dive," both of which also appeared on the six-song Dive EP, also issued in 2015. Fuzeta were next signed to a record deal with BMG France, which brought out the 2016 EP Pavilhão Chinês, named for one of the Sims' favorite cities in Portugal. With 2018's What We've Drawn, Fuzeta adopted a bigger and more polished production style, though their musical approach retained its integrity. In March 2019, Fuzeta's profile in North America rose with the release of the release of the single "Wandering Life." The tune, the first salvo from a projected full-length album, was named a featured selection by a major music streaming service, confirming that their success was no longer a strictly European phenomenon. ~ Mark Deming
