Peter Nalitch's 2008 debut album, The Joy of Simple Melodies, conveys exactly what it promises—while the singer/songwriter's persona retains an enigmatic quality. Following a massive Internet hit with “Gitar”, Nalitch went on to represent Russia in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Lost and Forgotten”. His repertoire balances both romantic ballads and humorous topics—some sung in a made-up language he calls Baburi. In his compositions and performances, he has paid tribute to his grandfather, a Bosnian opera singer.
