Chinese piano prodigy Yuja Wang has a showperson’s flair, whether manifest in a seriously colourful wardrobe, or playing a Brahms duet on a platform that’s adrift on a lake. But regardless of the setting, the essence of her art is a mix of magnificent virtuosity and depth of feeling that quickly renders the flash irrelevant, as in the clip of her playing Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in B-Minor, Op. 32, where her engagement couldn’t seem more complete.
