About Local Natives

Three members of the L.A. indie-rock outfit Local Natives went to high school together in Orange County, but the band didn’t fully take shape until after they’d all finished college. ∙ Their debut, Gorilla Manor, showcased the band’s airy harmonies and was named one of 2010’s best albums by Entertainment Weekly and Under the Radar. ∙ Produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, the band’s second LP, 2013’s Hummingbird, reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Independent Albums chart. ∙ Nina Persson (of The Cardigans) and Moses Sumney guested on 2016’s Sunlit Youth, while Arcade Fire’s Sarah Neufeld played strings on 2019’s Violet Street. ∙ Their infectious 2019 single “When Am I Going to Lose You” cracked the Top 10 on Billboard’s Triple A Songs and Alternative Airplay charts. ∙ In 2020, Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath joined the band on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing a new version of “Dark Days” (from Sunlit Youth) that was released a few months later.
