Chapter X

Chapter X

The record label founded in 2012 by Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, producer and entrepreneur Don Jazzy marks its 10th anniversary with the release of Chapter X, a collaborative project that showcases its top talent. “I feel like we used these 10 years to grow and figure out how to do most things,” Don Jazzy (aka Michael Collins Ajereh) tells Apple Music. “I think Afrobeats in general, for the past 10 years, was gathering steam. Now we know what the music business entails, and we’re ready for it. This next phase is just going to be the floodgates opening.” Mavin Records has been the incubator and development hub for some of the biggest names in African music, launching the careers of artists like Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks, Iyanya and Korede Bello. A celebration of life and family, Chapter X brings together the label’s current roster of established and emerging superstars, including Rema, LADIPOE, Magixx, Crayon, Ayra Starr and Boy Spyce. “At the rate at which this younger generation of musicians is growing, they’re going to rule the world,” Don Jazzy explains. “I have no doubt about it.”
